Bell Cottage is a pretty cottage set in the heart of the scenic village of Brompton, North Yorkshire. Formerly The Old Weaver’s Cottage, this quaint cottage is positioned opposite the beautiful village church, making this the perfect country retreat for couples, friends, or small families.
Ideally placed for walking in the countryside or for exploring both North Yorkshire’s National Parks and the historic towns and cities. Owner, Sarah has used her creative flair to maximise the space; the end result is a beautifully appointed and well laid out cottage for 4 guests. The sitting room features a beautiful fireplace with wood burner to keep you cosy on chilly evenings and the spacious kitchen and dining space is designed for cooking and socialising.
The village of Brompton may be small but has so much to offer, with two pubs, a handy village store, with spectacular walking from the door and lots to discover in the area, it is a wonderful escape for friends and family and is dog friendly too!
THE SPACE
Entering through the pretty cottage entrance door into the snug, you immediately feel at home in this warm and welcoming old cottage. With beautiful stone floors, original beams and quirky original features. The heart of the snug is a traditional fireplace with log burner, perfect for those cooler evenings and is a striking feature in this spacious yet cosy sitting room. Comfy armchairs and a sofa surround the fireplace making this an ideal space to relax and unwind.
Following through from the snug, you arrive in an additional comfortable seating area with a TV, perfect for little ones wishing for time away from the grown-ups! Or space to curl up with your favourite novel away from the hustle and bustle.
There is also a blue tooth music system and free Wi-Fi for the duration of your stay.
A cleverly designed cottage kitchen and dining space has a lovely flow, with a restful colour palette bringing a relaxed easy vibe to this sociable space. The dining and seating area is open to the kitchen so the cook for the day can be part of the chit chat too! Everything you need to create hearty breakfasts and tasty suppers is close at hand, there’s an oven, grill and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and a cafetiere for that all important morning coffee!
The first of two double bedrooms looks out across the pretty village church, with this space enjoying lots of lovely light. The four-poster bedstead adds a touch of elegance to this pretty room.
The second cosy double room continues the restful palette, perfect for retreating to at the end of day spent exploring. With a beautiful wrought iron bed, characterful wooden stripped floors and views across the village.
Set on the first floor, the owner, Sarah, has taken great care to make this bathroom the perfect fit for the cottage. The bathtub is just what you need, for soaking any aching muscles after a ramble across the Dales. You will also find a shower over the bath, basin and loo.
Even though the cottage does not have a garden space for use by guests, it is directly opposite the village green for sitting relaxing or strolling, or 2 minutes from meadows where you can picnic. Furry friends are well catered for and plenty of local walks run straight from the door. There is also ample free on street parking to the front of the property.
THE LOCAL AREA
A short stroll through the pretty village takes you to the picturesque common, where the beck meanders to the village inn, serving good beer and wholesome food. A short drive will take you to the bustling market town of Northallerton, where you will find an array of independent shops, restaurants, tea rooms, artisan bakery, delis and award-winning butcher. The beautiful high street showcases some fine Georgian architecture, with a twice-weekly market every Wednesday and Saturday, where you can buy fresh local produce. Enjoy afternoon tea in the famous Betty’s tea room, an absolute treat for all!
The Cottage is also perfectly situated in an area which offers outstanding walking, close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park, making it perfect for great days out in some of Britain’s most beautiful landscapes. The local market towns of Harrogate, Bedale, Ripon and Thirsk are a short drive with the historic city of York, an enjoyable day out to walk the historic walls, visit the famous York Minster and take a trip back in time at the Jorvik Viking Centre. Rail enthusiasts will delight in the National Railway Museum, whilst the many upmarket shops provide excellent retail therapy.
The cottage has nearby links to both the A1 and A19 road networks making getting out and about so convenient.
