Nestled in the midst of spectacular scenery at the foot of The White Horse and on the cusp of the North Yorkshire Moors, Long Shed Cottage has been lovingly converted by owner Catherine, from the original old stone barn into a stunning escape just for two. With beautiful interiors and a keen eye for detail this luxurious cottage offers lots of space with a large open plan country kitchen, relaxing lounge and spacious master bedroom suite with ensuite bathroom which has adapted facilities ideal for guests with mobility issues.
Positioned in a rural location with everything you could possibly need and the little extras too that really make this cottage a beautiful escape.
The perfect location for walkers and those who like to explore- straight from the cottage there are walks, cycle routes and woodlands to discover and explore.
Accepting dogs and with ample parking this quaint cottage is your perfect escape for two!

THE SPACE
Set all on one level, the living space is well laid out with three separate but linked areas for cooking, dining and relaxing. Comfy sofas, a dedicated office space and sumptuous furnishings throughout all add to the luxurious feel the cottage ensues from the minute you step inside.
The beautiful cottage kitchen is spacious and well laid out with a sperate dining table – perfect for chatting over morning coffee while you plan the days adventures or for catching up over pre dinner drinks.
The Master Suite is once again a spacious sanctuary with a king size bed taking centre stage adorned with the softest pillows and duvets for the perfect nights sleep. A pretty window looks out over the private terrace. Large, fitted wardrobes offer ample hanging and storage space.
The ensuite offers a huge walk-in shower, basin and WC along with an adapted bath – ideal for guests with mobility issues.
A separate utility room houses the washer and additional WC.
Outside there is a private courtyard with outside seating – perfect to enjoy the last of the evening sun or that all important morning coffee!
THE LOCAL AREA
Located close to the stunning North Yorkshire Village of Kilburn which offers a gastro pub and any foodies looking for a special culinary treat have The Black Swan Michelin-starred restaurant at Oldstead just over a mile away.
For such a small village, Kilburn packs a real punch! Home to the World-famous Robert Thompson (Mouseman furniture) and at the foot of the historical White Horse – there really is so much to enjoy and explore on your doorstep.
You can also enjoy an exhilarating day out the Yorkshire Outdoors Centre which offers rough terrain driving in a 4×4 try quad bike trekking or clay pigeon shooting.
Visit the mediaeval castle or the walled garden in Helmsley (10 miles) with its superb cafe. Helmsley also boasts many independent shops, tearooms, an arts centre and a Norman castle and is home to the National Birds of Prey Centre on the grounds of Duncombe Park.

A very warm welcome from our host Catherine on our arrival & throughout our stay. Catherine was always pottering around the garden. For a one bedroom cottage, this is huge. Lots of space for the two of us and two spaniels. Large lounge area and open plan kitchen that is well equipped. Large bedroom with a very comfy King size bed. Large bathroom with additional wet-room too. Dark skies and the peace & quiet. The cockerel & hens didn't seem to get up until 9.30am! Plenty of immediate places to exercise the dogs.

Catherine and Rory are both welcoming and friendly hosts. Their open-plan lounge, dining room, and kitchen space has been furnished to a very high standard throughout, providing guests with a cosy and comfortable home-from-home feel. The bedroom is spacious, with a king-size bed and a bathroom with a walk-in shower and bath. Long Shed Cottage is set in a beautiful and very peaceful location that is close to places of interest to visit: York, Helmsley, Kilburn, Thirsk, and Ripon, to name but a few. We would recommend Forrester's Arms in Kilburn and D'Vine in York as places that serve excellent-quality food.
