Sunshine Cottage is something a little bit special! A stunning newly renovated detached property located just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of the vibrant and historic market town of Helmsley, in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
With meticulous attention to detail the property sleeps 6 guests across three beautifully appointed and spacious bedrooms. With a large open plan kitchen, dining and living space which floods with natural light from the expanse of glass doors, which open out onto the lovely garden and patio area. There is also an additional snug, a useful utility room and downstairs washroom.
Owners Max and Sharon have personally overseen the impeccable renovations, resulting in a premium and unique finish. Elegantly and tastefully furnished, Sunshine Cottage is the ideal ‘Escape to North Yorkshire’ for families, couples or friends wishing to explore the hidden gems of North Yorkshire.
Ample off-street parking is available, and dogs are welcome to join you for your stay.
THE SPACE
Entering Sunshine Cottage, you will immediately be greeted with a warm and inviting feel. With soft colour pallets and luxury interiors – Sunshine Cottage will not disappoint.
An entrance hallway makes the perfect space to store coats and boots after a muddy meander around the stunning countryside which lies on the doorstep to the cottage. A handy downstairs washroom is also available plus a useful utility room with washing facilities.
A cosy snug is positioned to the front of the property with a smart tv and luxury sofas to escape the chaos or a space to enjoy some quiet time to reflect on the day’s adventures. Within this separate space there is a useful desk with printer, should you be required to work during your stay. The crème de la crème of Sunshine Cottage is the huge open plan living, dining and kitchen room, a stunning addition to the property which boasts ample space for guests to gather. The newly fitted kitchen offers everything required to please even the most discerning of cooks, with a large dining table and comfy sofas looking out through the beautifully appointed glass doors, which face the pretty garden area – perfect for al fresco dining on warmer evenings. The sofas are ideal to snuggle up on a colder chillier winters eve and enjoy movie nights on the SMART TV.
On the first floor you will find three spacious and luxury bedrooms. Two are super king and the third offers zip and link twin beds which can be made to a super king upon request. There is a family bathroom with a large walk-in shower, separate bathtub and wc. The main super king bedroom has the luxury of a dressing area and ensuite complete with shower, basin and wc.
Each bedroom offers a relaxing space with well-planned amenities and warm colour pallets. The beds are adorned with the softest of duvets and pillows for a guaranteed restful nights sleep.
Outside is a secure garden to the rear with a patio and outside furniture. To the front of the cottage is a driveway with parking for up to two vehicles comfortably, with additional street parking if required. The cottage lies on a quiet street just a short stroll to the centre of Helmsley.
The owners have also installed an EV charger which guests can use (additional charges will apply when using).
THE LOCAL AREA
Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically – Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. The National Birds of Prey Centre can also be found in Helmsley, a very popular attraction and worth a visit.
There are also many other historical attractions nearby including the majestic Castle Howard, the ecclesiastical ruins of Rievaulx Abbey and Byland Abbey and a castle and he National Birds of Prey Centre in Helmsley.
Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep – indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley – and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. The North Yorkshire Coast is easily accessible to include Scarborough, Whitby, robin hoods bay, Bridlington and Stathes, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes’ drive.
From Helmsley you can explore both The Howardian Hills and the neighbouring North York Moors National Park stretching across the Whitby and the coast. Excellent walking routes are on offer for seasoned ramblers and those looking for a more sedate meander. It’s also the perfect place for cycling with miles upon miles of climbs and descents awaiting your discovery, with jaw-dropping views to make the climbs worth the burn!
Being just 24 miles north of the City of York you are perfectly placed to head into the city, York is a city brimming with history and culture. Take a walk along the castle walls and marvel at the view below, or head to York Minster for some truly jaw dropping architecture and follow that with a wander around the cobbled streets with beautiful architecture to admire and independent boutiques to peruse or if your passion is food, you’ll find many excellent independent bars and restaurants to discover!
