The North York Moors stretches across much of the North Yorkshire over both countryside and coastline and is a truly spectacular National Park that offers something for everyone. On the coast you will find popular resorts such as Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby with their traditional seaside embrace, or you may prefer the more idyllic resorts of Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes which are decorated with pretty fishing boats and enchanting little streets.
Further in land you will discover a variety of interesting places to visit to include Goathland, which is world famous as the setting for the ITV production of Heartbeat, or the pretty North Yorkshire Market towns of Hemsley with its bustling market square, the dramatic castle ruins, the charming tea rooms and the ever-inviting inns: with the Cleveland way and Ebor way both beginning here.
The North Yorkshire Moors are made up of a myriad of landscapes from rolling heather lands to deep valleys, with several paths crossing the land and the National Park a haven for walkers and cyclists.
North Yorkshire is also home to some simply stunning Abbeys. Byland Abbey near Coxwold, North of York is one of the monasteries which inspired the design of church buildings throughout the North. It is a great destination to stop and look at the truly brilliant and stunning architecture.
We are also fortunate within our beautiful county to be home to Fountains Abbey, Whitby Abbey, Easby Abbey, Bolton Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey, Kirkham Priory and Mount Grace Priory and gardens, which are such fantastic places to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
North Yorkshire is proud of the beautiful Cathedral City of York. The historical city is lined with quaint streets bursting with history, perfect for a carefree amble around the many little streets, exploring many of the beautiful boutiques and shops. You will also be spoilt for choice when it comes to places to enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea break, with the world-famous Betty’s Tea Rooms located in the heart of the city of York is steeped in history and visitors can not a walk around the magnificent City Walls which surround this beautiful City, or a visit to the imposing and stunning York Minster, where you can even climb to the top of the spire. York is equally as beautiful on an evening, with so many great bars and restaurants, making it a truly perfect day or evening out whilst staying in North Yorkshire.

The Yorkshire Dales has some of the most stunning scenery. Whether your looking for a rambling weekend or a relaxed break, The Yorkshire Dales is simply in stunning! Both the Northern and Southern Dales have a different feel to them and we’d recommend visiting both to truly explore the hidden gems of North Yorkshire.
The Northern Dales has a more remote feel with beautiful heather moorland and breath taking valleys cutting through the landscape. Whilst the Southern Dales still has incredible landscapes, it s less remote with traditional market towns bulging with quaint little shops; perfect for browsing local artists and enjoying a coffee and slice of Yorkshire Cake in one of the many independent coffee shops!
