Nestled in the heart of the countryside, this expansive retreat is an ideal sanctuary for families, groups of friends, and outdoor enthusiasts. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by the farmhouse’s distinctive stone façade, lush gardens, and welcoming interiors.

 

The Space

Bridge Farmhouse accommodates up to seven guests comfortably, with the option of an additional z-bed to host up to eight. The spacious main bedroom features a double bed and a single bed, complemented by a private en-suite, making it perfect for families. The second bedroom is equipped with twin beds and an adjoining bathroom, while the third bedroom offers a cosy double bed, ensuring a comfortable stay for everyone in your party. At the heart of the home lies a bright and airy open-plan kitchen and dining area, fully outfitted for everything from leisurely breakfasts to shared evening meals.

Expansive patio doors lead directly to the garden, allowing natural light to flood the space and facilitating delightful outdoor dining during warmer months. The generous lounge serves as an inviting gathering spot after a day of exploring the picturesque countryside. With ample comfortable seating and doors that open to the gardens, it is a perfect setting to relax, reconnect, or simply bask in the serene surroundings. A spacious entrance hall provides a warm welcome, while the convenient ground-floor cloakroom enhances accessibility. The adjoining utility and storage room features its own external access, making it an ideal location for storing bicycles, walking boots, coats, or other outdoor gear after a day of adventure.

Outside, the gardens offer a peaceful oasis to unwind, savour a morning coffee, or relish the refreshing country air. Surrounded by stunning rural landscapes, Bridge Farmhouse strikes the perfect balance of comfort, space, and countryside allure, creating a delightful home away from home for families, friends, and anyone seeking a slower pace of life.

 

THE LOCAL AREA

The farmhouse is in a beautiful rural location, Hartoft is a hamlet in the county of North Yorkshire, It is situated approximately 7 miles north-northwest from Pickering. The nearest village, Rosedale Abbey, is situated 1.8 miles. The property is in a wonderful location to explore the Yorkshire Coast and North York Moors National Park. There is so much to see and do during your stay in the North York Moors.

Walking

  • On foot, under your own steam, out on the trail… is there any better way to experience the North York Moors than heading out for a walk?
  • North York Moors is full of footpaths from coastal (following the Cleveland Way), woods & forest, Heather clad moors, Valleys & fields.
  • Use local buses to do linear, circular or coastal (Cleveland way) walks
  • Use the North York Moors Railway to do linear & circular walks
  • Use the Esk Dale line to do parts of the Esk Dale Trail
  • North York moors feature the Cleveland Way National Trail, Esk Valley Walk, Tabular Hills Walk, The Inn Way to the North York Moors, Coast to Coast & the Lyke Wake Walk
  • There are many little villages to stop for refreshment at a pub or café.

Cycling

  • From Honey Pot Barn you can follow beautiful cycle rides along many bridleways & forest tracks straight from the door.
  • We have a couple of cycle route guides to follow
  • We also have road routes to follow, for the keen road cyclist.
  • Go to Dalby Forest to hire bikes, cycle or do other activities.
  • Cycle hire can be arranged to ensure you can use bikes from Rawcliffe House Farm.
  • The North York Moors is a fantastic location for cycling, whether you’re a family or a world-class mountain biker.

Wildlife

  • From moorland birds to minke whales, there’s a wealth of wildlife waiting to be discovered on the North York Moors.
  • We are surrounded by countryside, so even a short walk will allow you further viewings of deer & other wildlife.

Attractions & Activities

  • North York Moors Railways is the longest steam railway in England. Located in Pickering.
  • Castles at Scarborough, Pickering & Helmsley to visit.
  • Historic houses, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Sledmere House, Burton Agnes, just to mention a few.
  • Flamingo Land Theme Park & Zoo.
  • Museums in Pickering, Whitby & Hutton -le -Hole with the Ryedale Folk Museum or Eden Camp.
  • Church’s & Abbeys at Whitby, Lastingahm, Pickering, Rievaulx & Byland & many more.
  • Sea-side towns & villages, sandy beaches & idyllic coves.

Places to Eat & Drink

  • Vast choice of very good local real ale pubs, restaurants & cafes in the local area, Blacksmiths Arms at Lastingham, Cappleman’s fish & chip restaurant & take-away in Pickering. In Cropton you find the family run The New Inn with its own beers from Cropton Brewery.
  • The famous “Magpie” fish restaurant at Whitby, close enough to go for tea in an evening from Rawcliffe House Farm.
  • Wonderful cafes with beautiful home-made cakes & fresh sandwiches, such as the “Stonehouse Bakery” at Danby or “The Cycle Hub” at Great Fryup Dale (capital of cake winners). Or try the café above “Hammonds” the jewellers (a hidden gem!!) at the bottom of the 199 steps in Whitby.

Towns Villages

  • There are many beautiful historic towns & villages dotted throughout the North York Moors.
  • Pickering is a short drive away. It is a wonderful market town with supermarkets, local butchers, bakers & fruit & veg shops. It has restaurants & take-aways, pubs & cafes. Also, there is a castle & museum.
  • Follow our drive routes that will help you explore the countryside & coast, with maps, information on places to see & suggestions of cafes to use. Our guests really enjoy these.
  • There are several market towns within the North York Moors National Park.
  • There are many pretty, red-roofed little villages, Hutton-le-Hole, Danby, Lastingham & many more each with its own unique identity, nestled in wonderful countryside.
  • There are coastal towns like Whitby, & Scarborough.
  • There are coastal villages set in little coves, such as Staithes, Runswick Bay & Ravenscar.

Sandy Beaches

  • Wonderful stretches of sand at Whitby, Scarborough South & North Bay & Sandsend which is North of Whitby.
  • Beautiful coves at Staithes, Runswick Bay, Ravenscar & Robin Hoods Bay.
  • Scarborough & Whitby have the usual feel of being at the seaside for families, with long promenade to walk on & harbours with fishing & tourists’ boats.
  • The quiet little coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay & Staithes provide, peaceful little havens to search rock pools or sit & relax.
  • Sandsend is a popular little beach & village, very popular with families & couples who like a less commercial feel, but nevertheless there are cafes & other facilities.
