THE LOCAL AREA
Bridlington North Beach stands out as one of the premier destinations along the East Yorkshire coast, and it’s easy to see why! With its inviting golden sands and charming promenade, it offers an ideal setting for families and couples seeking a quintessential British seaside experience.
The beach extends from the iconic Bridlington Harbour to the striking cliffs of Sewerby. Its stunning natural beauty, coupled with exceptional facilities and a commitment to cleanliness, has earned it numerous prestigious accolades, including the Seaside Award, recognising the finest beaches in England, as well as the Keep Britain Tidy Award.
North Beach is one of two award-winning beaches that stretch from Bridlington’s harbour, the other being Bridlington South Beach.
Surrounding Bridlington North Beach is a beautifully restored Edwardian promenade, perfect for a stroll. This delightful pathway is lined with inviting cafés, ice cream parlours, and unique gift shops, making it an excellent spot to unwind and soak in the breath-taking sea views. Ample seating is available, and the promenade is predominantly wheelchair accessible, featuring ramps and beach wheelchairs that can be rented.
In addition to the beach, there are numerous attractions to discover in the vicinity. Just a short ride or walk away is Sewerby Hall and Gardens, a stunning Georgian estate that boasts meticulously maintained gardens, a zoo, and captivating historical exhibits.
At the southern end of North Beach, the fun fair awaits families with its array of classic rides such as bumper cars, carousels, and mini roller coasters, ensuring endless enjoyment. Stalls offering sweets, toys, and traditional seaside treats enhance the nostalgic atmosphere.
Regardless of the weather, the amusement arcades along the North Promenade are always lively. Inside, visitors can enjoy a variety of games, from retro penny pushers and claw machines to modern VR experiences and air hockey tables, providing a wonderful way to pass the time.
Additionally, Bridlington Harbour offers opportunities for boat trips and the chance to savour fresh seafood at one of the many delightful harbour-side restaurants and kiosks.
One of the most enjoyable ways to explore the area is by taking a ride on the Bridlington Land Train. This whimsical train travels along the North Promenade, connecting the beach to Sewerby Hall and Gardens. It provides a fun and scenic mode of transportation, particularly for families with young children or those who prefer not to walk long distances. The train offers breath-taking views of the coastline and is wheelchair accessible (manual wheelchairs only). It’s also pet-friendly, making it a great option for families travelling with dogs!
