Mariners Hall is a very special place, located in the heart of the ancient fishing port of Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. This elegant ground floor apartment forms part of a grade II listed manor house dating back to 1816.

With spacious well-appointed accommodation and allocated parking, it is the perfect escape with family and/or friends. The apartment is only a short walk to the centre of Whitby where you will be greeted with many local shops, restaurants, public houses and coffee shops. Pannett Park, the west cliff and the bustling harbour are also close by.

With fascinating history, a ruined abbey and a working harbour along with sandy beaches, donkey rides and rock pools and not to forget the best fish and chips in the world, Whitby and Mariners Hall make your perfect North Yorkshire Escape.

Please note – Mariners Hall is dog FREE.

THE SPACE

This stunning one level ground floor apartment has the most elegant charm, benefiting from high ceilings and ornate features giving you a real grandiose feeling as soon as you step inside.

With a spacious entrance hallway set out as an elegant dining area for all to gather at the end of a busy day exploring the hidden gems of North Yorkshire. There is a large modern kitchen fully equipped with everything needed to rustle up a hearty Yorkshire breakfast. A spacious lounge floods with natural light through the two huge sash windows. Comfy sofas and chairs provide the perfect backdrop to relax and unwind or offer the perfect space to play family board games watching your favourite movie.

THE LOCAL AREA

Whitby town is an ancient and beautiful seaport, surrounded by the magnificent countryside of the North York Moors National Park. Explore the Heritage Coast, to discover quaint fishing villages such as Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay clinging to the steep cliffs to the north and south of Whitby. Moving inland, the breathtaking moorland vistas surrounding our upland villages, such as Goathland, Danby and Castleton, contrast with the gentler, more pastoral setting of the villages on the banks of the River Esk, such as Lealholm and Egton Bridge. With all this and so much more, be warned – you may decide to stay for ever.

The River Esk flows due North through the centre of the town dividing it into East and West Sides, linked by the renowned” swing-bridge”. Whitby Abbey, St Mary’s Parish Church and the picturesque ‘old town’ lie on the East Side. The Abbey and Abbey Visitor Centre can be accessed by road, but most visitors follow the traditional route through the old town. The cobbled Church Street leads you to the foot of the famous 199 steps leading from the town to St Mary’s Church and the Abbey Headland.

The West Side of the town has some equally historic fisherman’s’ cottages, hidden in traditional yards behind the fish market and main shopping streets. Slightly further away from the noise and bustle of the harbour are many fine Georgian townhouses, built during Whitby’s most prosperous era in the days of sail. They cluster around the delightful Pannett Park, also home to the town Museum and Art Gallery.

The Whalebone Arch and bronze statue commemorating Whitby’s most famous explorer, Captain James Cook, stand proudly on the West Cliff, facing directly across the harbour to the Abbey.

Great location with off street private parking at the property. We made a quick phone call as we arrived earlier than expected & Matt responded within minutes to say we could check in early. 5 minute walk away from some lovely restaurants, Botham's bakery & some interesting shops, a 10 minute walk to the beach or harbour. Quiet location yet very central and the hosts have pretty much thought of everything you could possibly need whilst having a holiday. We will definitely stay here again when we next visit Whitby or surrounding areas.
