Nestled between the Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of Pickering, The Old Farm Shop is a hidden gem, positioned in a wonderful location to access the Yorkshire Wolds which runs through the village or a short drive to the stunning Yorkshire Coastline.
Step inside this pretty cottage and the soothing, calm colour palette of soft muted tones gives you that lovely warm welcoming feeling, you know instantly that this is going to be a beautiful place to be. A cosy log fire, soft squishy sofas and a Smart TV are just some of the comforts on offer. The kitchen is well laid out with a sociable dining area so everyone can be together. With two spacious king bedroom suites, one with an ensuite and a comfortable twin and family bathroom the cottage offers versatility for friends and family to enjoy glorious North Yorkshire.
Sleeping 6 guests with ample parking and a huge garden to enjoy, The Old Farm Shop is the perfect escape to explore the ‘Hidden Gems’.
THE SPACE
The living space invites you to relax on the comfortable sofa and chairs by the log burner, take a seat and curl up with a delightful book, or enjoy your favourite movie on the Smart TV. or if you are feeling more energetic why not have a games night and get out the board games for some competitive fun! There is also an equally as relaxing snug with a further smart TV and PlayStation 4 and the garden room flows from the snug, filling with natural light making this the perfect place to grab that all important morning coffee!
The kitchen has everything you need to rustle up tasty suppers using the wonderful Yorkshire ingredients you can find in local farm shops and delis; we have local vineyards too if you fancy a glass of Yorkshire wine! The practicalities are taken care of too with an oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge & freezer plus a washing machine. There is also an Espresso pod coffee machine and a cafetiere.
Upstairs you will find 3 bedrooms: 2 king sized one with an ensuite with spa bath, shower over, toilet and basin. There is plenty of hanging and storage space in each room. The twin bedroom facilities two additional guests and the family bathroom has a separate large shower unit, basin and wc.
Parking is to the side of the cottage. There is a a terraced area with outside furniture and a larger grassed garden, which can be accessed from the parking area.
EXPLORE THE LOCAL AREA
Ganton is a fantastic location with the Yorkshire Wolds Way running through the village and only a 20-minute drive to Malton, Scarborough and Filey. The village is situated on the south side of the Vale of Pickering immediately north of the Yorkshire Wolds. Ganton lies 7 miles (11 km) west of the coastal town of Filey, and 9 miles (14 km) south-west of Scarborough. The village appears in the Domesday Book and its name is thought to mean ‘Galma’s farmstead.
The Grey Hound pub lies across the road from the cottage, a great place to meander for a drink or two or relax and enjoy the scrumptious food on offer. The famous Ganton Golf Course is also positioned across the road – so the ideal spot for any budding golfers!
The North Yorkshire Coast is within very close proximity to the cottage and the perfect base to explore Scarbrough Sealife Centre, Betton Farm Visitors Centre, Alpamare Water Park and Filet Bird Garden Animal Park to name but a few attractions.
The beautiful and historical Cathedral City of York is a MUST Day out, and an opportunity to take in the sights, explore the high street and local shops and enjoy a selection of eating houses.
Other things to enjoy include, North Yorkshire Water Park, Wyekeham lakes fishing, Ayton Castle, Wimbleball Lake Country Park or The North Yorkshire Moors Railway at Pickering.

We had a great stay at this spacious house in Ganton. The extra living room was perfect for the kids to have their own space, and the selection of board games made our evenings really enjoyable as a family. The kitchen was lovely, clean, and well equipped, which made it easy to cook most nights. The location was ideal for exploring the coast, we visited Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby, all within easy driving distance. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. It’s in a quiet village which made it feel like a proper getaway, but still close enough to everything. Communication with the host was smooth, and check-in was easy. We would definitely recommend this place for families looking for a peaceful base to explore the Yorkshire coast. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Perfect location for attending a wedding nearby. Victoria provided a brilliant welcome bundle with all the necessary local information. The house was spotless and is really nicely decorated and furnished- super comfy beds!! Plenty of reception rooms to relax in and lots of books, dvds, ps4, games cupboard to entertain yourselves! If we’re ever in the area again I will definitely try to stay here again! Thank you!
