Wisteria Cottage is a beautiful stone cottage located in the centre of the market town of Helmsley, in the North York Moors National Park. It sleeps eight across four bedrooms in the main cottage, with two additional guests able to book the barn suite.

This stunning cottage enjoys an unrivalled quiet position in the market town, with private off-street parking and garden/terrace. With meticulous attention to detail resulting in a premium and unique finish, elegantly and tastefully furnished to make your stay ultra-comfortable.

Outside, there’s a lovely cottage garden/terrace with outdoor seating, making this the ideal spot for alfresco dining.

THE SPACE

Discover a true hidden gem at Wisteria Cottage, beautifully presented and furnished with a real home from home feel as soon as you enter.

The stylish sitting room positioned at the front of the cottage has cosy, comfortable seating perfect for relaxing after bracing a walk around the North Yorkshire countryside. An open fire is at the heart of this inviting space, along with a large dining table with seating for up to 10 guests.

The stunning cottage kitchen with additional seating/ snug area is well laid out and spacious, with everything needed for cooking up your holiday treats. A range cooker offers cooks a real treat, along with a microwave, kettle and hob.

A separate utility room situated within the courtyard, offers a washer and dryer and plenty of storage for walking boots and coats.

A handy downstairs WC completes the ground floor.

On the first floor you will find four spacious bedrooms, one with ensuite shower and bathroom. All bedrooms are beautifully furnished with the comfiest of beds ensuring quality sleep for all! A family bathroom with shower, wc and basin offers plenty of amenities for all.

Parking is off street in a gated area to the side of the cottage.

At the rear is a private patio area with outside seating- the perfect space to relax with a sundowner or enjoy that all important morning coffee.

Children are welcome – please note no cot or highchair are available at the property.

THE LOCAL AREA

The Norman Helmsley Castle dates back over 900 years. It has evolved over the centuries from a mighty medieval fortress to a luxurious Tudor mansion, a Civil War stronghold and a romantic Victorian ruin. The castle is open to visitors all year round, under the care of English Heritage.

Helmsley has everything you’d expect in a quintessentially English market town; a vibrant market square, independent specialist shops, unique places to eat and drink and an imposing castle.  It also has a walled garden, a bird of prey centre, a microbrewery, an open-air swimming pool, a luxury spa, a nature reserve, galleries and an arts centre.

From Helmsley, you can explore both The Howardian Hills and the neighbouring North York Moors National Park, stretching across the Whitby and the coast. Varied walking routes are on offer for seasoned ramblers and those looking for a more sedate meander alike. It’s also a perfect setting for a cycling holiday, with miles upon miles of challenging climbs and satisfying descents awaiting your discovery – rest assured that the jaw-dropping views make the climbs well-worth the burn!

There are many historical attractions nearby including the majestic Castle Howard, the ecclesiastical ruins of Rievaulx Abbey and Byland Abbey and the National Birds of Prey Centre in Helmsley.

Lying just 24 miles north of the City of York, guests staying here are perfectly placed to head into a city centre that’s brimming history and culture. Take a walk along the castle walls and marvel at the view below or head to York Minster for some truly jaw-dropping architecture. Follow this with a wander around the quaint cobbled streets as you admire the architecture, peruse the local boutiques and discover York’s gourmet hotspots.
